I spent most of my life competing in gymnastics and the majority of my time after high school coaching gymnastics too! I coached everything from pre-school to competitive athletes. My favorite events to compete in were floor and vault because they are fast-paced and can be exciting to watch. But my favorite events to coach were bars and beam because of how technical they are. Fun Fact! My last floor routine music was a remix to "I'd Do Anything For Love" by Meat Loaf. I played some soccer and softball growing up as well but gymnastics held a special place in my heart. I was never able to find anything that came close to that feeling until I joined CrossFit. A good friend took me to her gym during the pandemic and a year or two later I found Tiltshift. I have competed in two competitions so far and am excited for what is to come.
After high school, I struggled with ways to stay healthy and active. I tried biking and global gyms but there was no accountability and I found it hard to find ways to challenge myself. Once I started doing CrossFit, I found a community and different ways to mentally and physically challenge myself. Some days it's going to be getting a new skill or a new PR and other days it's going to look like just walking through the doors. It was definitely a big turning point in my life to find a gym like this because the coaches and members are great at supporting you at your lows and celebrating with you during your highs.
What motivates me as a coach is having people genuinely be excited to do CrossFit. I love having such a wide range of people and their different reasons for staying fit. It gives you a different perspective into other people's lives and what motivates them. It can also challenge me as a coach to think a little differently about how to make each person successful in small or big ways!
